Künstler, Künstlerin is an art platform that aims to provide a space for artists of all mediums to express, explore, perform, push and elaborate their ideas without fear of failure. Initially started by Alexander Norton in 2018, it now runs as a collective, fluid format. At cafe Plume they host a monthly open mic-event for artists of all mediums to present new ideas, finished, unfinished or works in progress, that may or may not answer open-ended questions...
The premise of making work without fear of failure allows artists to push ideas beyond their initial frameworks. The feature and open mic events run every two weeks and helps fund the artist’s practice in a small way. The feature show provides a further development for the ideas in longer sets.
We are here to support the artist in various forms; development, concept and confidence.
Accompanying the event, the website functions as an online exhibition space to archive local artists in our community. Without hierarchy the platform aims to remove these structures to allow the space to grow organically. It aims to serve artists after they complete study / during study / without study and give them an environment where ideas can flow and develop in a professional context.
